Generate awareness and attendance among low-income and first-generation Florida college students for the inaugural College Goal Sunday (CGS) statewide event to aid in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA)

Action Plan
- Build a public relations and marketing campaign with input from a statewide task force of financial aid directors, community college representatives, lending agencies and the Florida Department of Education
- Conduct focus groups with students from the target audience to test collateral materials and ensure messaging and content was both effective and results-producing
- Host three regional workshops to introduce the campaign and train local site coordinators on how to use the College Goal Sunday multilingual toolkit and collateral materials to attract students to their event
- Kick off the campaign with a statewide press event and secure story placements to promote CGS events in the host communities
Results
- The campaign resulted in more than 900 students, nearly 1,000 family members, and over 600 volunteers at the 23 locations in 18 urban and rural counties hosting events
- The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators designated Florida as the national training site for new states that coordinated College Goal Sunday events the following year
