Action Plan

  • Conduct primary research among Early Steps internal stakeholders to inform the development of tailored messaging and marketing materials to promote job opportunities and the “Florida Embedded Practices and Intervention with Caregivers” (FL-EPIC) professional development program.
  • Develop a tagline for the FL-EPIC brand and creative concepts for Early Steps job recruitment.
  • Develop and procure educational materials, marketing collateral and promotional items to promote Early Steps and FL-EPIC among target audiences (current providers, potential job recruits, program families and parents).
  • Produce high-quality videos featuring children, families and Early Steps staff to promote the program and FL-EPIC among target audiences.
  • Implement paid media campaigns to increase awareness of Early Steps among parents and caregivers of children 0-3 years old and to promote careers in early intervention and job openings with Early Steps.

Results

  • SMPR distributed two online surveys among Early Steps providers and staff to gather insights on the benefits and challenges of working in early intervention, how to recruit new providers to work at Early Steps, and how to motivate current providers to participate in FL-EPIC.
  • SMPR used findings from our formal research to develop campaign messaging, a FL-EPIC tagline (“Making Florida EPIC!”) and creative materials.
  • SMPR designed, procured and distributed more than 43,000 units of promotional items, ranging from custom knit socks and stress balls to padfolios and business card holders. We also designed and procured more than 12,000 units of educational and translated materials, such as flyers, brochures, posters and dry erase magnets across three languages (English, Spanish, Haitian Creole).
  • SMPR coordinated a full-day video shoot featuring Early Steps staff, children and families to produce 12 videos promoting FL-EPIC. The videos feature custom scripts, footage, motion graphics, music and captioning (English, Spanish, Haitian Creole).
  • SMPR implemented two advertising campaigns, which utilized social media, digital media, and out-of-home placements, resulting in more than 39 million ad impressions and over 150,000 ad clicks.
