TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The annual Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) PR & Comms Summit took place in Orlando from August 9-12, 2026. With more than 1,000 members across 15 chapters, FPRA is the oldest public relations association in the United States. This year, two members of SalterMitchell PR (SMPR) were installed to leadership roles and recognized for their continued service in the communications industry.
Founder and CEO of SalterMitchell PR April Salter, APR, CPRC has assumed the role of FPRA state president. In this position, she will lead the executive committee and board of directors, implementing her strategic vision for the association and driving professional growth across all regional chapters statewide.

“After more than two decades with FPRA, serving as state president feels like a natural progression to give back to the community that helped mold me,” said April Salter, APR, CPRC. “One of my goals is to form deeper connections within FPRA by helping members build stronger relationships across the state, learn from one another and feel supported in the work they do every day.”
PR and Public Affairs Director Lexie Savedge, APR now serves as president of FPRA’s Tampa Bay Chapter. In this role, she will guide the local chapter’s board of directors in delivering monthly professional development events, networking opportunities and regional growth initiatives for public relations practitioners across Tampa Bay.

“It’s an honor to serve as president of FPRA’s Tampa Bay Chapter and extra special to do so under the statewide leadership of our firm’s founder, April Salter,” said Lexie Savedge, APR. “FPRA has played an important role in my leadership development and I’m excited to build a stronger chapter in Tampa Bay by connecting communications professionals and helping members grow in their own roles.”
